Our Workshops
Introduction to Brain Development
This workshop supports teams to understand how the brain develops and how experiences of stress or trauma influence behaviour, learning and emotional wellbeing.
Complex neuroscience is explained in a clear, practical way, with a focus on how this understanding can inform everyday responses. The aim is to help staff make sense of behaviour and adjust expectations in ways that support regulation and engagement.
The learning is designed to be used immediately, without specialist language or theory for its own sake.
Understanding Sensory Needs
This workshop explores how sensory differences and sensory overload can influence behaviour and emotional responses.
Participants are supported to recognise sensory-driven behaviour and consider how environments, routines and communication can be adjusted to reduce distress.
The focus is on responding with confidence and awareness, whether working with children or adults.
When sensory needs are better understood, interactions often feel calmer and more predictable.
Working with Looked After Children
This workshop supports teams working with children who are looked after or have experience of care.
It explores the emotional impact of care journeys and the wider system around the child, helping staff understand how loss, disruption and uncertainty can shape behaviour and relationships. The focus is on responding with empathy and consistency while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Training is shaped around your setting and the role your team plays within a child’s network of support.
The Teenage Brain
This workshop helps teams make sense of teenage behaviour.
It looks at adolescent brain development and how this influences risk-taking, emotion and response under stress. Participants explore ways of responding that reduce conflict, support connection and help build trust over time.
The focus is on understanding rather than control, and on approaches that support safer, more effective engagement with young people.
Vicarious Trauma
This workshop is designed for people working in emotionally demanding roles.
It creates space to explore vicarious trauma and cumulative stress, helping staff recognise early signs of fatigue and understand how the work can affect wellbeing over time. Participants are supported to think about boundaries, sustainability and ways to remain effective without becoming overwhelmed.
The approach is reflective and supportive, recognising the importance of caring for those who care for others.
VR Training (Virtual Reality Learning Experience)
Our VR training offers a different way of learning, allowing participants to experience situations from another perspective.
These immersive sessions support reflection and insight by helping people understand how situations feel for someone who has experienced trauma. The learning is guided and supported throughout, and can be offered as a standalone experience or alongside other workshops.
For many teams, VR training deepens understanding in a way that stays with them.
Practical training that supports confidence and everyday practice
Our workshops are designed to be clear, accessible and genuinely useful in day-to-day work. Each session focuses on helping people understand what sits beneath behaviour and how to respond with greater confidence and consistency.
The learning is grounded in evidence-based approaches and delivered in a warm, supportive way. We aim to create space where people feel able to reflect, ask questions and leave with understanding they can actually use.
Every workshop is shaped around your setting. We take time to understand the roles in the room, the challenges you’re facing and what you want the training to support, then tailor the session accordingly.
TraumaSmart
TraumaSmart is our core, CPD-accredited workshop. It provides a clear and practical introduction to trauma-informed practice, helping teams feel more confident in how they respond during everyday interactions.
The session explores trauma, attachment and brain development in a way that’s easy to follow and grounded in real situations. The focus is on shared understanding, clearer responses and approaches that can be applied straight away, without jargon or unnecessary complexity.
TraumaSmart is well suited to teams who want a strong foundation in trauma-informed practice and a more consistent approach across their setting.
If you’d like to talk through whether this workshop is right for your team, we’re happy to have a conversation.
TraumaSmart+
TraumaSmart+ is designed for organisations that want support beyond a single training session. It builds on the core TraumaSmart workshop by offering ongoing input over time, helping learning become part of everyday practice rather than something discussed once.
Alongside the initial training, organisations receive flexible, bespoke support across the year. This might include follow-up workshops, reflective practice sessions or consultancy, shaped around your priorities and context. Individuals receive CPD certification, and organisations can work towards TraumaSmart+ Setting recognition.
This approach supports consistency, strengthens leadership confidence and reduces reliance on one person holding the knowledge.
